Electric Forest’s Plug In Program is one of the festival’s best kept secrets. Formed a few years ago was a way for festival attendees to get more involved, the fan engagement platform has grown immensely since it began. In essence, the program is a collection of various contests aimed at allowing fans to participate in the creation of the Electric Forest experience.

This June 21st to 23rd is the third edition of green music and arts festival Camp Coldbrook, which aims to promote free expression and creativity through experiencing both yourself and your environment; and environmental sustainability. Their overall goal is to show how action promotes positive change. Pretty trippy stuff. You’ll also be able to go hiking, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, play golf and swim in the Olympic-sized pool!

On the heels of their full line up announcement, Camp Bisco also announced a host of new additions to the overall experience. Each day, Camp Bisco will start off with yoga and meditation sessions followed by hooping seminars, arts and craft sessions and various other beat-the-heat activities. If you’re looking for a more adventurous daytime activity, try the Camp Bisco Airbag, a three-story free fall experience (um yay!) or head over to the new Game Center. Lastly, some relaxation elements have been added, such as the ENO Hammock Lounge by the lake (which includes a hookah lounge) and daily downtempo sets in the floating gazebo.

The third wave of artists playing this year’s Electric Zoo in New York City dropped the other day and it is delightful. Although the festival is still plagued by overcrowding, high prices and an odd crowd, I find myself almost wanting to go – that’s how fantastic the line up is. Unbelievably, this isn’t even the final line up – more artists will be announced later this summer.

Electric Forest announced it’s schedule last week and though it is less than a month away, it’s still barely enough time to plan out my weekend. Canadian duo Zeds Dead are hitting the road this fall for a massive somewhat-concept tour, ‘Altered States’. The pair will play more than 35+ dates (with the promise of even more!) as a debut of their full live production set up. They’re planning on “…play[ing] different styles of music, so the idea is that your mood and ‘STATE of consciousness’ will be altered throughout the night. We’re going to take you all on a journey.” Not too shabby.

I heard what Movement was all about from my local Boston electronic music scene friends who, unlike me, are well-versed in the genre’s history. They raved about Movement as the place to be for any electronic music fan to hear the best music available, and I knew I had to go, despite – if not because of – being unfamiliar with most of the artists on the lineup. For the past few summers, electronic music lovers in the Boston area have rejoiced at the end of May because Memorial Day Weekend is the official opening weekend of the Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy. Overlooking the water with fantastic skyline views, during the summer the Ocean Club is one of the best places in boston to see some of the biggest names in EDM. So far, Adventure Club, Chuckie, Dillon Francis and NERVO have been announced (and those are only the artists coming in the next month!). Check back for additional announcements.
